I Am Not in Charge — And That’s the Best News
Here’s the truth I keep circling back to: I am not in charge. God is.
And thank goodness for that.
Because if I’m honest, I’ve tried running the show on my own strength for most of my life. I’ve tried controlling outcomes, managing every detail, holding on tight to things never meant for me to carry. And do you know what it leads to? Exhaustion. Anxiety. Fear.
Letting go of control isn’t easy. It feels counterintuitive. Our culture tells us: “You’ve got this. Be the boss of your life. Take charge.” But as believers, we know better. The invitation of Jesus is not take charge — but instead to lay it down.
Every single day we get to decide: Will I try to run the show, or will I turn it over to Him?
Surrender isn’t weakness. It’s the deepest kind of strength. It’s the courage to trust that the God who spoke galaxies into being also cares about the details of your life. That His plans are better than yours. That He is faithful.
So today, can I encourage you? Take a deep breath. Let go of the illusion of control. And pray the prayer I whisper daily: “God, I trust You. Lead me. Help me to let go.”
Because at the end of the day, peace doesn’t come from being in charge. Peace comes from remembering Who actually is.
✨ You don’t have to hold it all together. You just have to place it all in His hands.
