Rewriting the Story: Your Identity in Christ and the Power of Declaration

Have you ever stopped to ask who you’re becoming… and why?

So many women I coach are chasing transformation, but still living under an outdated identity—one handed to them by family, pain, or culture.

Here’s the truth: You will never outgrow the story you still believe about yourself.

1. Your Brain Follows the Story You Feed It

Your identity is the lens through which your brain interprets everything.

If you believe you’re broken, unworthy, or “too much”… your brain will look for proof.

That belief gets reinforced through your thoughts, emotions, habits, and even your nervous system responses.

This is why just changing your behavior doesn’t stick—because the old identity is still in charge.

As Tony Robbins teaches:

“The strongest force in the human personality is the need to stay consistent with how we define ourselves.”

2. Where Did Your Identity Come From?

Let’s be real. Most of our internal narrative wasn’t consciously chosen—it was inherited.

It came from:

  • Family of origin dynamics

  • Childhood wounds

  • Cultural or religious pressure

  • Past trauma

  • Repeated lies spoken over us

The result?

We live out of an identity based on pain, not purpose.

Fear, not faith.

Survival, not safety.

3. Incantations: Speaking Truth with Power

Tony Robbins popularized the idea of incantations—spoken declarations of who you choose to be, repeated with emotion and certainty.

It’s not woo-woo. It’s neuroscience.

When you say something out loud with intensity, your nervous system listens.

But here’s where I take it further…

I don’t just speak positive affirmations. I speak biblical truth.

Because who better to tell me who I am than the One who created me?

4. Identity in Christ: Your Unshakeable Foundation

You were never meant to live by a story of shame.

Your truest identity isn’t what happened to you.

It’s not what they said. It’s not what you did.

It’s what God says:

  • 🕊️ You are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17)

  • 💪 You have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16)

  • 👑 You are chosen, holy, and dearly loved (Colossians 3:12)

  • 🤍 You are not defined by your past—you’re being refined by His grace.

When you anchor into that, your brain finally has a new narrative to follow—one that leads to healing, peace, and aligned action.

5. What You Can Do Today:

  • 🔹 Write down the identity you want to live from (based on truth, not trauma)

  • 🔹 Speak it aloud every morning with energy (incantation-style)

  • 🔹 Ask God to reveal what lies you’ve been carrying and to replace them with His truth

  • 🔹 Surround yourself with a community who reminds you of who you really are

Final Word:

This work isn’t fluffy. It’s fierce.

It takes courage to let go of the old story.

But sister, you were never called to live small, hidden, or stuck in patterns that don’t serve you.

You were created to rise. To reflect His glory. To live aligned with your Kingdom identity.

Let’s start there.
